how has everyone been?? i hope you have been enjoying your well deserved breaks my friends!
LOL
well its been 3 weeks since i've last blogged and 4 days ago my preferences were finalised. :\ hope it all goes well!
nothing exciting has happened lately...apart from my groups get together, which was on monday, i havent done much stuff exciting until yesterday!!!
monday was SO FUN!!! some girls couldn't make it, but the process of making that pavlova and gingerbread house was most certainly...enjoyable. im looking forward to our next get togethers! ^^
well yesterday, my cousin and i took on an 8 hour shift at myer. we volunteered for gift wrapping, accepting donations from people who needed their presents wrapped, AND people who just walked past. they were so kind ♥
we even offered to give them a pretty box(supplied by myer) for their presents, but they were so kind..they just said a donation is good enough for them ^_^
yesterday we wrapped a decent amount of presents. not as much as we were expecting. though it still added up to a big number. but today was probably the best day.
from 9-1 it was just my cousin and i. tbh it was really stressful because we were running out of medium sized boxes and WRAPPING PAPER!! i went to the layby section and asked for more gift wrapping supplies, they had no idea where everything was..so in the end, i used their phone to call the man in charge, and i talked to him on the phone in their office...(I FELT SO GROWN UP, SINCE I WAS WEARING A SHIRT AND STUFF)
HEHEHEHEE
10mins after i went back to the gift wrap stand, and then my cousin and i decided to stick a sign up saying that we'd be back so we ran uup the escalators, back to the layby place and raided their stationary storage place. shoving boxes in shelves and opening all these boxes fOR MORE boxes. LOL in the end we found a few which was good. we then ran back to our table and continued to wrap.
at 1pm we tallied up the number of presents we wrapped, which was close to 70...i think. pretty good effort for2 girls in 4 hours right?? LOL
another lady by the name of Anita came for her last shift 1-5. and she is probably one of the funniest person i have met so far. she can easily pick up conversations with the customers. it was so amazing!!! despite it being christmas, some ppl still showed a fairly stressed and worried face. but by the end, anita would somehow make them leave with a BIG BIG SMILE ON THEIR FACE. it was amazing!!! her 'people' skill was amazing. and she also had pretty lame jokes...
customer: ahhh you're doing gift wrapping!
anitA: *starts RAPPING JIBBERISH*
us: ohhh u're rapping...not wrapping....
LOL maybe it sounds retarded there, but basically she was just mucking around with the word wrapping/rapping
i gotta say she was a funny one. i really enjoyed wrappping presents with her :D
here are a few weird and cute customers we had on the day...
man #1
old man, comes to us with lingerie, tells us to wrap it...(and we werethinking....i wonder who this is for... :\ his misses? or....new..gf?)
it was a bit weird wrapping his presents
man#2
3 men come up to us. one man gets his presents wrapped, his mate then asks uss to wrap his presnts...and the first man is like...can you wrap him up as well?? then they have a conversation about also volunteering for vision australia. but honestly...they'd just be tieing bows on each others head if they did...HAHHAHAH they were a funny bunch
man#3
wog comes up to me...wants 5 shirts in 5 separate boxes. while wrapping them..he didnt look too impressed. but later he came back to pick them up..he looked more cheerful than before. when he leaves he says thank you...and WINKS at me....inside i was about to throw up, but i forced a *smile* and said...THANK YOU! MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! i later told my cousin and shes like..uhhhh was he greek/italian? if so..they're pretty upthemselves. they rkn they're really good looking...and I WAS LIKE...THATS SOOO RIGHTT
but that wink was terrifying. but he donated a whopping $50!!!! which was EXTREMELY GENEROUS OF HIM ^^
man#4-THE CUTEST MAN EVER!!!
he was probably a bit scared of us from our chit chat while he was waiting in line, so he was realllyy quiet and shy when he asked us to wrap it for him. anita asked...who this gift was for and so on. he had a fair bit to wrap. and when it came to this...beautiful clutch...he was like...'this ...i already got her something, but we went shopping a few days ago, and she looked at this and liked it...so i went to buy it for her as well"
AT THAT MOMENT...MY HEART MELTEDDDDDD OMMMFFGGGG WHAT A CUTE GUYYYYYYYYYYYY ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHH....i dont think i stopped thinking about it until...he left....but omgggg
and i also wrapped his awesome chocolate book. it looked like a chocolate block. so we were like..yummmyy chocolate! but he was like..its not chocolate, its a book and he showed us! all three volunteers stopped what they were doing...i.e. wrapping, tieing a bow etc
we all leaned towards him and couldnt stop wowing at his book. and of course...i chose to wrap that book :P
girl #1
"hello, sorry ill come back later with some change! won't be long ^^", comes back after..a while gives us her donation then walked off...WITHOUT HER PRESENT!! LOL she was so cute tooo!
didn't havemuch interesting stories about ladies. hehehe
but overall, it was heartwarming to see all these guys buying branded expensive perfume and other gifts for their partner. especially the ones who brought their children along as well, and they had to explain to them...this is for mummy, and u will give that big present to mummy >.<
we also made heaps of jokes about men being crap at wrapping because at times i got a bit annoyed at how ugly and odd shaped it turned out. but in the end..if they wanted us to wrap it for them...it would either be because they cant wrap presents for shit, OR they didnt have enough time..in the end, we tried our best to make it as pretty as possible and topped it up with a fancy bow :D ^_^ im glad i volunteered again this year ♥
thanks to anna! i was able to experience these lovely experiences and to see something..different :)
