So i've finished my last week of class for 2013 and i must say it has been different compared to week 12s in the past.
First of all, 2/3 of my tutors were unavailable due to unforeseen circumstances. They were greatly missed and this also made me realise that I should really cherish the people i have because you never know when they'll be gone. Or simply not be by your side anymore. My tutor always had a different way of teaching and it was not always readily accepted by his students because he was just so confronting and intimidating. However when he wasn't there we realised that we in fact really enjoyed his butting in during our presentations to initiate conversations. When we had the replacement tutor, she was less interactive and it really depended on the presenters to keep the discussion going. Immediately we saw a difference and then we all said how much we missed him...especially when we were told of his illness. It was even more shocking and we really hope that he recovers soon. We all wrote a little message in the card and they weren't simple words like...get well soon! but it was feelings from his students whom he guided for 9 weeks.
It was even more heart wrenching when he asked the coordinator a question...are the students mad at me for not giving back their presentation marks? i was just about to cry!!! He has to endure soooo much pain and hardship but in the end he worried about our marks? two digits. He was so devoted and in love with sharing his experiences as an expatriate, he never failed to surprise us with his knowledge and his enthusiasm with every single topic. I hope he has a speedy recovery and returns to be the amazing lecturer and tutor he was. Stay strong Scott, we are all thinking of you.
I consider myself to be extremely lucky because i feel like i have been given a second chance by my friends. During second year of uni, i completely neglected the friends i made in first year. We were like a tight knit family until i decided to transfer courses. Consequently, i moved campus' and saw less of them. However they still messaged me asking how i was and what i have been up to but throughout 2012 i felt like i never put in any effort to get to know more about their life and studies etcetc. At the beginning of 2013, i decided to go back for catchups and they accepted me back without giving me shit about how i left them, and they accepted me back just like that..i did not even feel like there was that one year where i hardly spoke to them. With my effort to visit them more, our friendship has bonded even more and i am so grateful that they still treat me like a close friend. We have had many chats and we are like family now. you have such kind hearts and id like to say...thank you for showing me what a good friend is like. I have learnt a lot from you two. Thank you Le and Vivian. Love you girls so much <3 p="">
